The BSC Training module challenged me to go beyond theory and design for practical application in the lab. Unlike general biosafety, this course focused on a complex laboratory device, the Biological Safety Cabinet, which plays a critical role in protecting users, samples, and the environment.
I used Articulate Rise 360 for content delivery and Storyline 360 for interactive scenarios that illustrated correct and incorrect cabinet use. Designing this module required me to understand airflow dynamics, containment principles, and procedural details like sash positioning and workstation setup. Small instructional choices like how to present a control knob or explain airflow had significant safety implications, pushing me to think systematically about information flow and learner experience.
This project deepened my appreciation for scenario-based learning and the importance of visual design in technical training. It reinforced my role as a translator between subject matter expertise and practical learner application, a lesson that continues to shape my design approach.
